In 1999, twin brothers, Lee and Dee Bangerter, founded the Rocky Mountain Care Foundation as the fundraising arm for Rocky Mountain Care. In June of 2006, the Foundation received its own 501(c)(3) status, enabling us to better assist underprivileged individuals served within the community and to build off the great work begun by the parent company.
Rocky Mountain Care Foundation (RMCF) is located in Bountiful, Utah. There are seven members currently serving on the board and two full time staff members.
Lee R. Bangerter was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 3, 1944. Lee attended BYU where he obtained a degree in Business Administration and later met his wife, Anita Edwards. As a businessman, Lee enjoyed working with and caring for others; particularly those who were frail or elderly. He dedicated his professional life to ensuring appropriate healthcare services were available to those who needed them and often could not afford them. In 1999, Lee was instrumental in establishing the Rocky Mountain Care Foundation to provide relief to the poor, distress, and underserved. In July of 2005, Lee was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor. For over a year and a half, Lee and his family battled this dreadful disease. On January 30, 2007, Lee peacefully passed away at his home. The impact of Lee’s life continues to be felt and lives on through the Rocky Mountain Care Foundation.
