This past Tuesday, we made the trek up to Wellsville Elementary, located just outside of Logan, UT. There we met Ms. Luthi’s 3rd grade class.

This group of kids is amazing to say the least. You see, their teacher Ms. Luthi is currently being treated for cancer in Salt Lake, which means the class has a semi-permanent substitute teacher- but that doesn’t mean the students have forgotten about their amazing teacher Ms. Luthi. Oh no, in fact, they have gone above and beyond to prepare for her return. The hall is lined with “Welcome Back” notes and pictures, and they have sent her many “Get Well Soon” illustrations and cards.

Before Ms. Luthi left school she had contacted us and started setting up a service project for her students to take part of with our Good Deeds Challenge. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels there in Wellsville and wanted her students to create placemats for the recipients of the meals on Valentines Day this year. We hopped on the idea and started planning the project, and even after Ms. Luthi left school the substitute was more than willing to let us come and complete the project with the students.

We layed out hundreds of hearts, butterflies, stickers, washi tape rolls, sheets of paper and foam stickers for the kids to choose from. We started with a base sheet of 12″ x 12″ cardstock and let them run wild from there- gluing, sticking, taping and drawing to their hearts content. To say the least, each and every one of those placemats is an original work of art that is sure to bring a smile to the faces of those that receive them!

After the students were done with their placemats they all wanted to make an extra “Get Well Soon” card for Ms. Luthi- just another example of how amazing those students are! We would just like to thank Ms. Luthi’s 3rd grade class for being so amazing and helpful- we absolutely love when we get to work with students like you!
